And I agree, “they” want it both ways.  And the loons in there now will fuck everything up and it WILL be another Vietnam.  Yeah, the one where the gov’t cut and run leaving all those innocents with a bunch of fucktarded assholes?  That one.  Apparently not everyone has read history or has realized that we should learn from our previous mistakes.

Now, I’m no political expert, but I am someone’s crazy wife, and it has occurred to me that making Saddam a martyr, no matter how small the population that this affects is, may have been a bad move when anti-US sentiments are high and people ARE saying that this is somehow America/Bush’s fault, regardless of the facts of the matter.  Also, was it the right thing to do in terms of morality, or in terms of making the world a better place.  And if we are willing to sacrifice the greater good in the name of morality, then where does that leave us? I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m just thinking about the issue.

Well if you’re going to ask yourself that everytime someone is put to death for crimes they have committed then knock yourself out. I am pro death penalty for all states and countries.
People are saying that this is the US fault but people say stupid things all of the time and I don’t listen to them either.
For the crimes that Saddaam commited and was tried for and found guilty of his punishment was just.

I’m just thinking about the issues the same was I was 4 years ago when my sister was stationed in Iraq… sitting in one of his palaces.. while the people live in huts.

Regardless of whether killing Saddam made him a martyr or not, it wasn’t our call.  We let the Iraq Government make the decision and they made it and followed through.  I say good for them, that’s one step on your way to being an actual functioning Government!

As far as this turning into another Vietnam, it’s not going to happen, for two reasons.

1. Even though the Democrats now control the House, they don’t have the votes or the power to enact a “cut and run” strategy.  The President is Commander and Chief and he is that for a reason.  He’s not going to Cut and Run.

2. We can’t “Cut and Run” from Iraq, because if we do, as you may have heard some Politicians say on the news recently, the terrorists are going to follow us here.  It’s not like Vietnam where they didn’t want us there, we pulled out and they said, “Thank goodness they’re gone, let’s get back to what we were doing before.” The terrorists are going to say, “Ok, they’re gone, let’s regroup and attack the USA again.”

Does it suck that our Marines, Soldiers, Seaman and Airman are dying?  Absolutely it sucks.  On good thing is, though, that it’s at an extremely slow rate.

And if you don’t believe that then you need to do some research on past war death rates… Where the expected life span was less than a day.

I totally agree. It started with the invasion. The US was saying “disarm or we’ll attack”. Every day on the news we saw Iraq mashing missiles with front end loaders. They WERE disarming, but the US attacked anyway. “They have WMD’s” the US said. None were found. Then the occupation, the unfair US sponsored unfair crappy trial, and the execution.
Not saying anything good about Saddam, but he was murdered, not executed.

Nice way of trying to spin it and say that the US was the only one saying they have WMD’s.  Just about every other country was saying they have WMD’s.  Iran and Israel just to name two.

And I didn’t say anything about why the US went over their in the first place, that has no basis in this.  It was about Saddam’s execution, not his fall from power or any of that.

Also, even if we had known there were no WMD’s i’m glad we went over there.  Why?  Because he (Saddam) knowingly had and protected Al Qaeda and other terrorist group training camps in Iraq.

Even saddams own people hated and feared him. Its just a case of “He was our pain in the @ss” and we should have killed him.

The entire war was Clintons fault. If he had not dismantled our spy networkswe could have independently verified Saddam had no WMD and not had to realy on Russia, Germany, France and England who told us they were 100% sure that Saddam had WMD. If you want to blame anyone blame bill clinton.

I should also point out that according to the Gov’t own data far few soldiers are dying from all causes every year in the last 7 years than in any year of the Clinton presidency! Google it up.

The violence in the ME will never end until like the Europeans the muslims get a life that is so good they won’t want a war or revenge on a daily bases. Its a way off life for them. The crusades were amazingly successful concidering the time and distance from europe. They did so well (one was 80 years long) because the muslims were so busy butchering each other they couldnt fight together long enough to kick out the Christians.
